Seasonal services at Great Glen Crematorium
Great Glen Crematorium is issuing an open invitation to local people to visit and take part in its annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Service.
To help make sure nobody misses out, there are two services taking place this year, one on Tuesday 10 December and one on Friday 13 December, both starting at 7pm.
The seasonal services provide valuable opportunities for families and friends to come together and remember their loved ones in the run up to Christmas, a time when people can particularly feel their losses.
The services will include a selection of readings and popular Christmas Carols. Refreshments will be available.
Both services are free to attend but in order to help manage numbers, anyone who does want to join in on either of the evenings is being asked to email the crematorium at greatglen@westerleighgroup.co.uk to secure your seat or call 0116 259 1101.
Great Glen Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites across England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Manager Marc Palmer said: “Our annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Services offer lovely and meaningful ways to bring people together to reflect and honour their loved ones during the festive season.
“Visitors to the events will be able write messages on memory tags which will be hung on our Christmas tree and can also place Christmas cards into our Letters to Heaven memorial post box.
“We hope that everyone who joins us will find comfort in being able to pay tribute to their loved one during the service whilst being in the company of other people who are in a similar situation.
“Our Christmas Carol and Memorial Services are open for anyone and everyone who lives, works or who is visiting the communities surrounding our crematorium in leading up to Christmas. Everyone is welcome.
“Those who are unable to attend on the night but wish to view the service as a live stream, can do so through Westerleigh Group’s multimedia partner Obitus.
“Just visit https://christmas.obitus.com/, enter the username ‘greatglen’ and the password ‘sleigh' for the December 10 service, and the username ‘greatglen1’ and password ‘sleigh’ for the 13 December service.
“For those not able to watch it live, or those who attend but who would like to see it again, the services will be available to view online as a ‘watch again’ option, using the same details above, from Thursday 12 December (for the 10 December service) and Monday 16 December (for the 13 December service), for 28 days, so nobody has to miss out.”
